The winery
THE WINERY BODEGAS LEON DOMECQ S.L., re-emerges after enhancing the value of the century-old winery Bodegas Vides, in the most authentic quarter of Jerez. Since 1850, this winery has stored in its facilities at Calle Justicia 28 wines from what used to be one of the most important vineyards in the Jerez-Xerez-Sherry area, ‘La Compañía’, located on the road from Jerez to Trebujena, next to the El Majuelo estate, in the Macharnudo terroir.
The winery
The history of ‘La Compañía’ is intertwined with our wineskins, ever since the ancestors of the León Domecq family, the creators of the project, took charge of it. Over time, Bodegas Vides became the great spectator of what it has now become, an absolute oenological gem that was waiting for its time to come within the walls of Calle Justicia – Alcaidesa; heir to those brave wine-making entrepreneurs, such as the grandfather, the distinguished Mr Tomás Domecq Rivero, an icon of his time, who knew how to turn Sherry into one of the best wines in the world.

More recently, Bodegas Vides was operated as a traditional almacenista, that is, a maturation warehouse, for key Jerez wineries, which carefully and patiently cared for great wines from the Jerez area, such as the famous ‘Palos Cortados of Bodegas Lustau, Almacenista Vides’.

In the walls adjoining the winery where our wines are produced, BODEGAS VIDESis home to the undisputed best Gran Reserva Sherry Vinegar in the world. This vinegar is naturally aged over more than 75 years in American oak barrels. This gastronomic jewel dates back to 1946 and will be sold as a limited edition by BODEGAS LEON DOMECQ, S.L. (Relic Case 100 units).

In 2021, BODEGAS LEON DOMECQ, S.L.made a magnificent comeback, determined to reveal the treasures that have been kept hidden throughout its history. In its effort to tell the world about its products, a very important commitment has been made in the comprehensive restoration of the building at Calle Justicia as well as in the reclassification of all its ancient wines; crowned with other carefully sought-after jewels to complete an exclusive range of PREMIUM WINES, from Fino en Rama, flavoured with those wines of yesteryear, to our exclusive Amontillado, Oloroso, Palo Cortado, Medium, Cream and Pedro Ximénez.

This rebirth process has been managed by a top-level human and technical team which, just like our wines, is of an incredible human quality. The aim of the project is to position our wines at the highest standards of quality and presentation and offer the excellence they deserve.
